The Road is the Enemy
A downloadable game
Far to the West or so they say lies Eferhaim, the Land of Gods. Through it runs a road to the Promised City, where the Gods of the Outer World are said to reside. Pilgrims the world over flock to travel this Road, to show their devotion to the Gods, and to help those in the lands of Eferhaim on behalf of their faith.
Along this road there lies dangers untold and harsh truths fit to drive a Pilgrim mad. The most bitter and daunting of these are this: No Pilgrim will ever reach the Promised City. The Road is the enemy, unvanquished and unalloyed. Perhaps there is no Promised city after all. Perhaps there are no Gods, perhaps there never were.
None of it matters. For the legends and tales each Pilgrim makes in their travels only serve to strengthen the faith of others, only weave a tighter canvas of lies which brings more Pilgrims forth.
The Road is the Enemy focuses on the creation, and mutability, of myths and legends, pitting the Pilgrims against a hostile world, and describing the ends they meet while traveling to the Promised City.
The Road is the Enemy is designed for four players and a Speaker with tools to rotate out the Speaker so they too can join in on the action. Perfect for one shots or short session play, The Road is the Enemy has everything the table needs to run the game out of the box with tools on introducing new players into the Speaker role, while helping to enforce the cyclical nature of the game.
