The Persona - Masks: A New Generation Playbook

You’re a hero but that hasn’t helped you where it counts. Something burns inside of you, a justice beyond what you’re capable of. A goal the person you are can’t achieve. So you’ve changed, made someone who can do all the things you can’t. Your alter ego is another hero, or something darker. Where does the new you start and the real you end?

 The Persona's themes center darker themes than traditional Masks playbooks such as trauma, systemic inabilities to combat harmful elements of society and the damages those inabilities cause on a personal level. The Persona has been hurt, some grave injustice committed that the system cannot right on its own. This has forced The Persona to take matters into their own hands, possibly risking falling into the same systems that hurt them all in an effort to put to rest the pain it caused in the first place.

The Persona has fallen into Darkness and this Extra Mechanic develops and builds whatever it was that drove the Persona to develop their Alter Ego and what their end goal is. This Darkness drives them to seek out that end goal, causing hurt and harm along the way to those they care about, and of course those that they do not.

The Persona is primarly inspired by Red X from the Teen Titan's animated show, and comic. Other inspiration for The Persona is drawn from Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender and other anti-heroes of that nature.
